I saw a picture of my wife the other day and it stopped me in my tracks.
It was her face looking right into the camera.
Her smile was close lipped and a grin that I’ve seen a million times. But it’s her eyes that continue to speak to me just as they did 30 years ago. An unplanned part of remembering our 30 years together has come with replacing the HVAC equipment in our home. We bought this house after being married for two years. It took all of our savings. But we did have enough to replace the heating and cooling equipment. Honestly, I thought I’d have replaced that heating and cooling equipment long before I saw my kids grow up to be adults. And easily, I figured we’d need new HVAC equipment before celebrating our 30th anniversary. But it turns out that the old heat pump had great timing. The HVAC technician told me the first week of March that the heat pump probably wouldn’t make it another Summer. So my wife and I got right on it by meeting with the HVAC contractor. We were totally amazed by all the evolution in HVAC technology. But we had the new residential HVAC installed just in time for the big celebration. I surprised my wife with renewing our vows and threw a big party. I’m not sure that I would have felt as confident about having 50 people in and out of the house with the old heat pump. But this new heating and cooling situation is just the best. Actually, several people commented on the fact that the house felt so nice and comfortable.
