My father in law has a cabin in the mountains a couple of hours from us and my husband thought it would be a good idea to stay there one weekend and “get away from it all” and “get in touch with nature”. I thought that was a fantastic idea. It’s fall and I love to hike and I could just imagine the beauty in the mountains right now. However, when I got there, I was surprised by what I found. I had pictured a rustic cabin with a fireplace or wood burning stove and guns and fishing poles and things like that. There was certainly a fireplace, and radiant heated floors and a flat screen TV with hundreds of channels and internet and I just didn’t see how we were getting away from anything or getting in touch with nature. And then he had to watch the game…and I was trying to figure out exactly what we were getting away from..My husband did do some hiking with me though and I think he enjoyed it as much as I did. And it was cool enough at night to light a fire in the fireplace. It wasn’t cool enough to need the radiant heated floors, but I’m hoping to come back later this winter and get in touch with nature in the snow. We can try the radiant heated floors then. And the fireplace was pretty romantic. Even though we didn’t get away from much or get in touch with nature very much, we still had a great weekend.
