If there’s one thing that you should know about me, is how much I love animals.

My entire life has been spent around animals of all shapes and sizes.

Growing up, we had the designated zoo in the neighborhood. When other families would find abandoned or injured animals they would always drop them off at our doorstep. Luckily, my mom didn’t mind too much and had some background medical knowledge. We took care of animals big and small, and I learned to appreciate every living creature. These days, as an adult, I have my own home zoo. I can tell you, it’s a lot more stressful to be the adult in the situation. Suddenly, I not only have to worry about feeding and caring for the animals, but I also have to take care of the house that we all live in. One of the biggest challenges I face is properly maintaining my indoor air quality. You see, when you have a plethora of animals running around, you automatically have more dander and hair floating in the air. Not only is this upsetting to your respiratory system and any allergies you might have, but it doesn’t number on your HVAC system. Since there’s so much extra hair in the air, my HVAC air filters get clogged faster than you could believe. If I don’t keep up with changing out my air filters every two weeks, my central heating and cooling system winds up running over time due to the extra resistance. This amounts to added wear and tear on your heater and air conditioner. The hair and dander are such a massive problem that I have set a permanent calendar reminder on my phone, which notifies me every two weeks when my air filter is going to be completely clogged. It’s a pain, but I’ll do whatever it takes for these animals!
