The thing about taking the protective plastic shell off the HVAC equipment outside is where to put it.
This is the puzzle I run into every Spring when I uncover the HVAC cabinet.
This is the air conditioning portion of the HVAC equipment. We live in a region where we get both extremes when it comes to Winter and Summer temperatures. I guess we’re just lucky like that. And the Fall and Spring are brief and really just weeks long transitions from cold to hot. So we are finally going entire days without the gas furnace kicking on at all. And the green has pretty much exploded all over. That’s the signal for me to call the HVAC company. They come out each Spring to do the air conditioning tune up. And that’s why I’m going to spend like two hours today trying to figure out where to store the heat pump protector until the Fall. It’s sort of ironic to me that the Winter prep I do every year ends with me putting that protective shell over the HVAC equipment alongside the house. It has nothing at all to do with saving on the heating bills but it’s an essential part of the Winter prep. We get lots of snow and ice all Winter long. The plastic shell I put over the heat pump keeps the weight of the snow and ice off of the fan and other delicate components. With what HVAC equipment costs, I’m happy to deal with this dang HVAC cabinet cover today. It won’t be but 3 or 4 weeks before we’ll need the air conditioning and I’m glad to do my part to keep that HVAC equipment in good shape.
