My brothers never thought of themselves as old-fashioned or cheap, but it was pointed out to them that was exactly what they were.

They wanted to get some fresh business for their Heating, Ventilation and A/C venture.

Their spouses printed up t-shirts and handed them out to the family. They said when they wore the t-shirts, they would be doing advertising for the Heating, Ventilation and A/C business. My brothers drew up flyers and walked up and down the street; sticking them under windshield wipers. Living in a community where they could pass out all their flyers to every vehicle within two hours, didn’t give them much chance of getting lots of business. Our parents tried to tell them they had to go to the internet and do their advertising that way. They showed my brothers a few websites, and tried to show them what they needed to do. Our parents even offered to do the job for them, and they wouldn’t charge them a cent. When my brothers saw the chart our parents had created, they were astounded. They told them they were reaching less than one percent of the contractor they should have, with both the t-shirts and the flyers I was putting out. If my brothers were sure about opening an Heating, Ventilation and A/C business, they had to be sure about the type of advertising they were doing. They then asked how many current customers my brothers had gotten since they started the flyers and t-shirts. They shook their heads and told them none. Our parents gave them the name of an online SEO contractor and told them to call and ask for their Heating, Ventilation and A/C expert. A year later, after following our parents’ advice, my brothers had to hire more HVAC professionals, and get several repair vans. Who would have known an online SEO contractor could do a website, and advertise for them.
