So now, I’m in an apartment downtown near the office.
Okay, so I can for sure confirm that everything about getting divorced sucks. So far, there isn’t one thing that has been a pleasure when it comes to the end of my marriage. And I miss the central air conditioning of that house as well. Maybe the fact that my ex-wife and I were finally honest about our marriage can be seen as a plus. We got married young and went right into the traditional game plan of career, family and all of that. And I mean, we got right into it. I was working like 60 hours a week from the jump and my wife was all about having babies. So there was no time for any self discovery as we were uber adults that were college students only a year or two prior. At least I was spending 60 hours a week inside a nice office with great commercial HVAC. And with that paycheck, we were able to own a nice house with the latest in residential HVAC. It all went sort of the way we thought it would when it came to focusing on family and success. Then, the kids were out of that great central air conditioning and we were just sort of left staring at each other. It became abundantly clear that we were partners in parenting and not much else. So now, I’m in an apartment downtown near the office. It’s temporary but I’ll be living here for at least a year since I signed a lease. The apartment is cramped and the HVAC equipment is too old and overwhelmed to provide the sort of quality heating and air that I’m accustomed to. I walk to work now and believe it or not, I actually miss the train. Yea, divorce sucks out loud.
